Appease Lord Kuber With These Rituals
The festival of Diwali begins with this day, and is dedicated to the God of Wealth, Lord Kuber, God of Health, Lord Dhanvantri, and Goddess Lakshmi.
Natives worship the Gods and Goddesses to please them and gain their blessings of a prosperous future.
On this day, devotees buy gold and silver jewellery, utensils, and so on. With modern times, people have also started buying essential household items on Dhantrayodashi.
Dhanteras Rules & Regulations As Per Scriptures
As per the Hindu Panchang, celebrations of Dhanteras fall in the Kartik Month.
Specifically, the commemoration falls on the Uday Vyapini Trayodashi of the Krishna Paksha of this month.
Thus, if the thirteenth day (trayodashi tithi) falls during the sunrise, then that day is Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi. On this day, people also do Deep Daan to Lord Yamaraj, God of Death.
Things To Keep In Mind When Purchasing Items On Dhanteras
Buying utensils are extremely auspicious on this day.
Silver is very dear to Lord Kuber; thus, one should buy silver utensils.
You can also purchase brass utensils apart from the silver ones.
One should buy Mahalaxmi yantra, conchs, and coriander to please Goddess Lakshmi.
Purchasing of essential household items is also auspicious for Dhantrayodashi.
One should not purchase a vehicle on Dhanteras, as it is not auspicious.
Avoid buying items made of glass too.
Abstain from purchasing black coloured things as well.
Dhanteras: Things to Remember
Devotees of Hinduism pray to Lord Kuber, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Dhanvantri on Dhanteras and wish for peace, prosperity, and health in life. However, one should never sit for worship out of greed on this day. Instead, your thoughts should be of helping the needy with the money you have, and working towards the betterment of society.
In fact, people believe that Goddess Lakshmi (often an allegory for wealth) will enter your home only if your heart is pure and you hold no malice for anyone. If you harbour any ill-will in your mind and have such impious thoughts, then you will not be able to attain Lakshmi – both wealth and the blessings of the Goddess).
Dhanteras Puja Rituals
Wake up early on Dhanteras, and after being done with your morning rituals, wear clean clothes. You should also clean your house.
Worship the God of Health, Lord Dhanvantri with shodashopachara. Also, pay homage to the Gods and Goddess of wealth – Lakshmi and Kuber with utmost devotion.
Every member of the family should participate in this puja. Distribute the prasad after completion.
You should light a diya (lamp) on the main door of your home, in the evening.
Also, worship Goddess Lakshmi with complete rituals in the evening of Dhantrayodashi.
